Commissioned artwork requests are always welcome. Examples of commissions that we create are house portraits, building portraits and handwritten calligraphy pieces (of quotes or poems for example). The piece can be personalised too with name(s), date or other important information (in calligraphy) to make the piece extra personal.
How does it work?
The first step is to get in touch with us via email to see when the next available booking slot is (if you are looking to book for a specific occasion it’s best to get in touch as early as possible). Notice of availability is also often shared on our social media platforms.
To provide a quotation, we need a photo of the house or building, or the details of the text that you would like written in calligraphy (if it’s a poem / quote / lyrics for example). The quotation is calculated based on the complexity of the piece, (or length in the case of calligraphy work), and therefore the time that will be involved.
Bookings are secured with a deposit, and the balance is payable at the time that work commences.
Tips for Sending Photos
For houses and buildings, send a clear photo of the front elevation of the building. Please remember that the illustration work is an interpretation of the photo, so if there are any details that are important to include, then let us know at this point.
Deborah works on all illustration and calligraphy work in studio, and adopts a mixed media approach (watercolour, pen, ink, pencil). The work is digitised, and prepared for printing, then printed on high quality linen textured white card, with archival ink pigments. The A4 art print comes mounted (included in the price) with a white mount board, and packaged in compostable cello-wrap...ready for gifting!
Please let us know of any details that are important to include in the illustration at the time of securing the booking.
We don’t release digital files of artwork, and retain the rights to the original artwork as property of Three Little Birds.
Re-prints or additional copies of prints of the artwork are available at any stage at the time of completion of order, or in the time after you have received your piece.
